— Jason "Mr. Based" Itzler |

Jason Lubell Itzler, born Jason Lubell Sylk[1] (February 23, 1967) better known online as Mr. Based, is an American businessman, attorney, YouTuber, and New Yorker. Jason has spent time in prison for money laundering, drug charges, and prostitution.[2] He currently has warrants in a variety of states.
Jason's current project is Joshua Block. Jason has set Josh up the streaming platform Parti, and has been streaming with Josh since mid-2024. In this time, Jason has filmed Josh extremely intoxicated, during mental health crisises, and general at the lowest points of his life. Before streaming with Josh, Jason's content consisted of sun gazing as well as filming IRL (in real life content).
Background
Early Life
Jason Lubell Itzler was born February 23, 1967 as Jason Lubell Sylk and is the only son of Ronnie Lubell and Leonard Allen Sylk. Following his parents’ divorce, Itzler moved to New York with his mother. Jason's mother remarried Ron Itzler, a lawyer in the firm of Fischbein, Badillo, Wagner, and Itzler, and so the family moved to the suburbs in New Jersey. Jason attended a number of private schools, including the Elisabeth Morrow School, the Dwight-Englewood School, the Hotchkiss School, and Tenafly High School. Jason spent many of his evenings at the New York Friars Club, and summers in the Catskills, where he worked as a cabana boy at the Concord Hotel. Jason graduated from The George Washington University with degrees in political science and art history.
Business and Criminal Activities
While in law school, he started a phone sex operation called M2 Communications, Inc., where he would charge $4.98-a-minute, and soon become a young millionaire. Jason continued to have a variety of sex businesses in the phone sex, webcam sex, and prostitution industries, and has claimed that his client list included high-profile celebrities.
In 2010, Jason Itzler shared an apartment with Zoltan Prepszent. While sharing the apartment, university-aged Julia Sumnicht died of a GHB overdose in the apartment. No charges have been layed and onus of responsability as well as what happened to Julia is widely speculative.
History with Josh
Background
Before Josh Block met him, Mr. Based/Jason was working to establish himself as a streamer on Kick and content creator specializing in the sun-gazing space. Sun Gazers are people who believe there are benefits to staring directly at the sun. Mr. Based claims he had been informed of Josh by a friend and instructed on how to come in with contact with Josh.
Early Interactions with Josh
On July 8, 2023, during a live stream, Jason encountered Josh while the latter was conducting a tour. Upon introducing himself, Jason was rebuffed by Josh, who reportedly shouted "SCRAM, BITCH!" before instructing his tour guests to flee. The interaction lasted approximately one minute.[3]
Approximately one week later, a second encounter occurred between the two. Jason attempted reconciliation by apologizing and offering friendship, prompting a similar reaction from Josh, who again demanded that Jason leave. Witnesses reported Josh shouting "Get him, get him!" while a tour guest to take action against Jason. The confrontation escalated when Josh threw a drink at Jason, who then pursued him. Josh subsequently fled into the street amid oncoming traffic, continuing to shout during the altercation.[4]
Josh and Jason would cross paths once again, during a 2024 solar eclipse viewing.[5]
Early Streams
On May 20, 2024, Jason streamed on Kick with Josh. The details of the stream are unclear, other than that they were at a bar, and Josh abruptly left.[6]
Jason would continue to have Josh on his streams (how many is unclear at the moment), but was banned from the Kick platform on June 7, 2024, possibly due to Josh's outbursts towards donations.[7] Notably, Jason was banned off kick again on June 24, apparently for sexually assaulting fellow streamer Carldo's girlfriend.[8] Jason was once again suspended for one month on July 2, due to a situation where he sexually assaulted a woman, gaining notable attention on Twitter (X).[9][10]
From this point, the streams with Josh would become notable, as they began happening regularly.
Josh's Crashouts
Jason would begin streaming on YouTube after his Kick suspension, and these earlier streams would become notable for Josh being heavily intoxicated and belligerent on stream.[11] The intensity of Josh's outbursts, or crashouts, were significantly worse than anything else that had been seen from him up to this point.
July 5
The stream begins with Jason doing miscellaneous activities, including purchasing alcohol, before Josh shows up to his apartment about an hour into the stream. Jason and Josh wander out into the nearby streets for a while before returning to the apartment. At 3:11:30, Mr Based offers Josh a hit from his weed pipe, which triggers Josh to vomit onto his own clothing. Due to his heavily inebriated state, Josh shows minimal reaction, merely wiping the vomit on himself before continuing.[11]
Josh was changed into an orange t-shirt, but the remainder of the stream would escalate significantly. At about 3:45:30, Josh would become increasingly hostile toward TTS donations. At 3:45:57, a donor called out Jason's alleged exploitation of Josh, notably causing him to lash out from being called "DISABLED." Further donations escalated into Josh eventually shouting slurs, his usual complaints about being middle class, threatening to kill donors (while Jason clarified the threats were "in Minecraft"), and hurling alcohol at the camera. Jason concludes the stream by leading Josh to a Citizens Bank ATM to pay him, before allowing him to leave.
July 19
This stream was uneventful, with Jason initially engaging with viewers for approximately 16 minutes before Josh arrived at his residence. Upon entering, Josh complained of what he described as "hangover sweats" and requested a Twisted Tea. The subsequent hours of the stream featured TTS interactions between donors and the two. Later, they visited several bars in Manhattan, though the stream remained uneventful for much of the evening. Near the end of the stream, after leaving a bar, Josh becomes significantly paranoid about interacting with strangers, claiming that it was putting his "life in danger." The stream would abruptly end after Based began interacting with a group of Josh fans, where Based pinky-promised Josh to stop interacting with anyone. What makes this stream noteworthy is the events that followed the next day.
July 20
A series of live streams on July 20, 2024, would become one of the most significant events in the saga with Jason.
Josh arrived at Jason's residence already inebriated, displaying drowsiness and slurred speech. Jason provided Twisted Tea and Beatbox beverages, both high in alcohol content, exacerbating Josh’s condition. Over several hours, Josh exhibited severe impairment, including multiple stumbles, public urination, and immediately after doing so, falling into the street. Jason downplayed Josh’s intoxication during the stream, attributing it to minimal alcohol consumption.
By ~01:20:00 into the first stream, NYPD officers intervened, assisting Josh indoors after bystanders expressed concern. Josh resisted hospitalization, being adamant about his lack of insurance. Subsequent streams showed Josh unconscious on a couch, intermittently roused by TTS donations or Jason splashing water on him, which awoke Josh. A couple arriving for Josh’s scheduled NYC tour encountered him in a volatile state; Josh lashed out physically, striking the woman and shouting incoherently before stumbling into the streets.
The final streams involved Josh being once again passed out on Jason's couch, with police entering and taking Josh away. Prior to this, a 7-minute long version of Taps played, and other donations attempting to wake him up. Josh was taken away while "17:00 Somewhere" played.
July 22 - 31
The most significant of events during these streams were Josh getting a manicure, and Jason being swatted.[11]

Josh Studio Sessions
YouTube Ban and Return to Kick
Galaxy Gas Streams

Pets
Jason owns two pets; Frankie, a dog, and Bambi, a cat. These pets are often seen and interacted with on Jason's streams.
Criticism
Criticism of Jason stems from the view that he enables Josh's alcoholism, as well as exploiting Josh's worsening state solely for profit.
