Due to Josh's rampant alcoholism, vagrancy, and violent nature, he has had many encounters with law enforcement.

Arrests

Subway Surfing Arrest (January 2024)

On January 31, 2024, Joshua Block was arrested by the New York Police Department (NYPD) in Manhattan for allegedly attempting subway surfing, an illegal and dangerous activity involving riding on the exterior of subway trains.[1] Videos of the incident showed fans pleading for his release, highlighting his significant online following. He was fined and released the following day.[2]

Intoxication Incident (July 2024)

On July 20, 2024, police responded to a call at an apartment in New York City due to Josh's erratic behavior while intoxicated. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital for medical evaluation but was not arrested, and no charges were filed.[3]

Japan Incident (February 2025)

On February 15, 2025, while in Japan, Josh experienced a public breakdown involving screaming and self-harming behavior, prompting police intervention. He was temporarily detained following a citizen's arrest but was not formally charged, with the situation resolved after police discussion.[4][5]

American Dream Mall Incident (February 2025)

On February 21, 2025, Joshua Block was detained by either police or security at the American Dream Mall in New Jersey, after he lashed out on a group fry-bagging him. He had to be physically restrained by security, and after apparently attempting to bite one of them, was forcibly taken to a local hospital to be tested for bloodborne pathogens, in response to the attempted bite.

Dubai Deportation (April 2025)

On April 8th 2025, Josh flew to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates for a vacation, he had previously announced in April 2024. Upon arrival on April 9th, Joshua was denied entry into the country by the Dubai authorities for unknown reasons, but likely due to arriving there drunk, or his history of assault and public indecency. Joshua was deported from the country and arrived back in New York the following day.

Controversies

Block's encounters with law enforcement have resulted in many discussions on platforms like Reddit and X focusing on his behavior, mental health, and responsibilities as an influencer. The subway surfing arrest, in particular, raised concerns about public safety, while the Japan incident led to mixed reactions regarding his well-being.
