Despite his best efforts, Joshua Block is not usually considered an intelligent person.

School Years

Josh is autistic, which in many cases, including Josh's, coincides with learning disabilities and barriers. In the 2021 "This is My City" documentary, Grandpa Block confirmed that Josh was in "the most restrictive class" in Virginia Beach. Grandpa Block successfully fought to keep Josh out of special education classes once he was in New York. Josh graduated high school at 19 years old.

Critical & Rational Thinking

Interestingly, Josh seems to lack the ability to think critically and rationally, leading to the following moments:

  • Seemingly still believes that Santa Claus is real.[1]
  • Josh is both anti-American and a Trump supporter. Despite the latter point, he also supports universal healthcare, also believing that 'universal' means the entire world.[2][3][4]
  • Fails to understand the concept of living 'paycheck to paycheck', as evidenced by his frequent misuse of the term.
  • Frequently makes determining his location via social media posts easy, then acts surprised when people find him.[5]

Factual Errors

For unknown reasons, Josh has blatant misconceptions about how the world works and about common knowledge. The following are categorized examples of this:

  • Basic economics - Josh once claimed his flight was delayed on purpose by the airline so they could "pay [their] crew more money".[6]
  • Biology - Mr. Based attempted to discuss Frankie having babies, and Josh reportedly believed that dogs laid eggs.[1][7] Josh was also unaware of the fact that animals could get pregnant. [1]
  • Pop culture - In the Matan Even Interview, believed that LeBron James died in a helicopter crash instead of Kobe Bryant. (21:48)
  • Symbolic interpretation - Believed that Claire's tattoo was from Bermuda, solely based on it being a triangle.[8]
